The Thomas Center will have its annual holiday tree lighting celebration 6 to 8 pm, on Saturday, December 3rd.
Our neighborhood is again arranging luminaries and carriage rides!
Please come on out and help! This is a great way to get to know your neighbors.
Luminaries Come have fun while you help with the luminaries! We continue this event, and look forward to seeing you on the 3rd. First we meet at the north end of Roper Park at 9 am to put candles in bags and then put the bags on the streets. From the pond up NE Boulevard to our entry feature, and 5th and 6th Avenues to the Thomas Center. Children welcome to help. We especially would like help from need people with trucks and/or SUVs to transport luminaries (and people) along the route. At dusk we ask neighbors to come out and help light the luminaries. The following morning (Sunday) we again need families to help empty the bags and recycle the sand into the Roper Park sand box.
Holiday horse-drawn wagon rides are back!! We will have 2 wagons, and the hours of the rides will be the same as the We will start selling tickets early. Tickets this year will be $7 for adults and $3 for children. The ride will go through some neighborhood streets, including near the Duck Pond to see the luminaries. We need people for 2 short shifts: 5:45 to 7 pm, and 7 to 8:15 pm. Volunteers will help guide people on/off the wagons, and sell the tickets.
